Tree Planting In Burringham

Under the excellent direction of Burringham Parish Council Chairman, Val Turner, I also joined local children in planting trees around the edge of Burringham Playing field on Thursday.

Samantha Cameron Visits Burringham

Thursday was another really busy day with a visit by Samanthan Cameron to Burringham where she met with local pensioners and some local children who later help on a community tree planting scheme around Burringham playing field. Samantha spent time chatting over tea and coffee about a whole range of issues although I think the most popular question she was asked was, "Is it a boy or a girl?"

Caroline Spelman Visits Goole Docks

I was delighted to welcome Shadow Secretary of State for Local Government, Caroline Spelman MP, to the Goole Docks on Wednesday for a meeting about Labour's port taxes which threaten local jobs. These taxes were imposed on businesses retrospectively and now threaten the very survival of businesses operating on the docks. This means hundreds of local jobs are under threat.

Just a quick blog post to let you know that I'm going out on patrol with the Police in Snaith this evening, Cllr. Caroline Fox is coming along too. We've already seen some alcohol seized from under-aged drinkers near the railway line.

Labour Seek to Double Council Tax Rise

Andrew Percy has reacted with anger at an attempt by Labour Councillors to double the Council tax rise for residents in the Goole and Snaith area. The East Riding Council met today to set the Council Tax for the next year with Labour Councillors trying to force a higher than inflation rise of 3% on hard pressed taxpayers.

Happy New Year ... at last

I've not been very good at updating the website in recent weeks largely because the run up to Christmas at school was pretty hectic whereas Christmas itself is time for family. I really prefer to keep my posts to politics rather than other issues so there are no pictures of my Christmas dinner table on here! I'm not as self-indulgent as some in politics I could mention.
