Andrew and Councillors Launch Service to Support Residents and Voluntary Groups During Lockdown

For the past few weeks myself and the local team have been supporting residents who have been contacting us in unprecedented numbers.

We have wonderful volunteer groups working across the area to support residents, but understanding what support is available can be confusing.

That is why I have teamed up with all of the Councillors representing the Brigg & Goole and Isle of Axholme constituency to launch a new service to connect residents to the support available or to provide that assistance ourselves.

If you are already receiving support from the Council, friends and family or one of the local support groups please continue to access that.

If need help then we can assist as follows –

1. Assistance with Shopping and Prescriptions.

Residents can contact us if they are vulnerable and struggling to access shopping or prescriptions and we will:

i. Connect you with one of the brilliant voluntary and charity groups set up locally to help with shopping and prescriptions or provide this support ourselves.

ii.. Connect you with the service both the East Riding and North Lincs Councils are offering to the most vulnerable residents with food and medicines.

2. ‘Check-In and Chat’ Service

We know many residents are feeling cut off and isolated at this moment in time. If you want someone to chat to then please contact us and register for the service. We can arrange a one off chat, or call you a couple of times a week to check-in on you and for a quick catch up to hopefully keep spirits up.

Many local groups are also providing this support so we will also connect you with one of those if available locally.

3. Support for Community & Voluntary Groups

With emergency Coronavirus funding being made available for charitable groups, sporting groups and voluntary groups, we are offering advice and assistance in accessing this funding by way of the ‘Bid Writing Service’ Andrew offers all year round.

How to Access Support.
