Andrew has provided an update on Home-Start, Goole following a meeting this week.
Andrew explains, "I have been a big fan of the work Home-Start do in the Goole area for many years supporting vulnerable families. At Christmas I often donate toys to them and in the past I've made small financial contributions to them too. That is why I was concerned to hear their lottery funding is coming to an end. As a result, I pulled a meeting together with them this week which was very productive. We've agreed a two pronged approach to try to assist. The East Riding Councillors are looking at how we can get the Council to assist and my team and I are going to try to identify and assist in accessing other funding.
"As residents may know, a few years ago I set up a service from my office to help local good causes trying to access funding. We help identify funding streams, assist in writing funding bids and in putting together the other paperwork often needed. So far I've been able to help bring in £1.1 million for local good causes from this service. This has included funding for projects such as the Community Cinema in Crowle, Haxey Cricket Club, Roxby Community Centre, Brigg Arts Centre, Winterton Rangers, Keadby Working Men's Club, several play areas and more besides. We are currently helping with bids for Old Goole, Crowle Boxing Club to name but a few.
"We are now going to do what we can to assist Home-Start. They are already pretty good at accessing and writing funding bids but we are going to try to see if there are other sources we can try for them.
"Rest assured, we will do what we can to support this excellent service."
