With the cold, winter weather just around the corner, both East Riding Council and North Lincs Council are encouraging eligible residents to get their free flu jabs.
Flu vaccines are available for free on the NHS for those at highest risk from the flu:
• adults 65 and over
• people with certain medical conditions (including children in at-risk groups from 6 months of age)
• pregnant women
• children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2019
• children in primary school
• frontline health or social care workers
This year, 25 million people will be offered the vaccine, which has now been extended to all children of primary school age – an extra 600,000 children.
The vaccinations will be available from GP surgeries and local pharmacies.
Andrew adds, "If you, or anyone you know, are eligible for the free vaccines, please speak to your local GP or pharmacy. With the colder weather almost upon us, it's best to get your vaccine at the earliest opportunity."
