Andrew visited both the Burringham and Gunness Flood Defence works, and the South Ferriby Flood Defence works today to check on progress for these projects. As you may be aware, Andrew has been working with the council and the Environment Agency to secure funding for these schemes following the devastation of the 2013 tidal surge.
Andrew says, "I am happy to report that the Burringham and Gunness Flood Defence works are nearing completion, with the works estimated to be completed in early/ mid August. This project is being funded by a £13.5m grant from the Conservative Government.
"The South Ferriby scheme is also underway and is making good progress. These works will protect 150 residential properties, infrastructure such as the A1077, the railway line, the CEMEX cement plant and 500 ha of agricultural land. This is a £12m project, of which £7.5m has come from the Government. Completion is estimated to be in early 2021.
"As always, I will keep residents updated with further progress on both projects."
