As mentioned previously, this year is the Government’s Year of Green Action. As part of this initiative, the Government has partnered with the charity Step Up to Serve to encourage young people to get involved with environmental action through the #iwill4nature campaign.
Andrew explains, "The #iwill4nature campaign forms a core component of the Year of Green Action and aligns with the aims of the Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan. The goal of the campaign is to encourage young people to engage with nature and environmental social action and to increase the participation of organisations by demonstrating the vital role that young people can play in improving the environment.
"Young people can get involved by volunteering, campaigning or fundraising. This could include actions like litter picking, planting pollinator-friendly flowers, fundraising to maintain or enhance green spaces, or campaigning on the use of plastics. Moreover, through taking part in these initiatives, young people will benefit from the development of valuable skills, experience and increased mental health and wellbeing."
If you know of any young people who would like to get involved with environmental action or are already making a difference and would like to share their story, please provide them with the following link: https://www.iwill.org.uk/young-people
