From today, the Government has made pension cold-calling illegal, with fines of up to £500,000 for companies that break the rules.
Andrew adds, "Cold-calling is one of the most common tactics used by fraudsters to commit pension fraud, with an average of £91,000 being stolen per victim.
"If a cold-caller gets in touch with you about your pension, gather as much any information from them as you can, e.g., the company name or their phone number. This information can then be reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) for their investigation. "
You can call the ICO on: 0303 123 1113, or, if you think you have lost money to fraud, call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
