Andrew met with representatives of Google this morning to discuss the various programmes and initiatives they have set up to provide training in digital skills to both adults and young people.
Andrew reports, "This meeting followed on from hosting Google’s Digital Garage in Brigg last year. The Google Digital Garage toured the UK, visiting a number of market towns to provide free training in digital skills for local people and traders. I was delighted that we could bring this fantastic opportunity to our area.
"Google informed me of the online version of the Google Digital Garage, which offers training to people and businesses online to acquire the right digital skills to embrace new opportunities ahead.
"The courses available online are designed for people to learn at their own pace to help them develop their career or business and include the following topics: Fundamentals of digital marketing, Get a business online, Land your next job and Understand the basics of code. If you are interested in finding out more, the online courses are available here - https://learndigital.withgoogle.com/digitalgarage
"We also discussed their Be Internet Legends programme which teaches internet safety to primary school children. This course was designed by both Google and the Parent Zone to 'empower younger children to use the web safely and wisely, so they can be confident explorers of the online world.'
"I am also in the process of working further with Google to possibly bring additional programmes to our area, for both adults and children, and will keep you updated as these plans progress."
