MPs from across the Humber met with Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, this week to discuss proposed police pension changes, which the Chief Constable has warned would place significant cost pressure on the force.
The cross-party group of MPs pressed the Homes Secretary to ensure that the Humberside Force is compensated by the Treasury for the increased costs.
Andrew reports, "The crux of the issue here is around technical changes to pension costs and where they fall. The changes were supposed to be offset by other changes which has not panned out as planned.
“As a group of local MPs we have been very concerned about this and we are working together to ensure a solution is designed in time for next year's police funding settlement.
“The Home Secretary was sympathetic to the case we put forward and explained that the changes were never designed to have the impact they could. Fingers crossed the issue will be resolved positively so that the recent increase in police numbers in Humberside can be sustained."
