Andrew visited Goole Academy recently to meet with the school's new Principal, Julian Harrison. The pair toured the school and caught up on recent changes at the school since it joined the Delta Academy family of schools.
Andrew reports, "It was great to meet Julian who I hope will be able to add a period of stability to the school. Julian assured me of his enthusiasm for Goole and talked me through some of the very significant changes that have already started. Delta have an excellent record of performance at the other schools they run and all any of us can hope for is that local young people are given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
“Having served as a Governor during the school's time with WCAT, when it is fair to say promises of support were just not forthcoming on the scale we were assured, it is clear that Delta are taking a very different approach. It was especially reassuring to hear how senior and experienced staff with a record of delivery elsewhere in the Delta network, are being used to support staff and pupils at Goole. There has also been some very considerable investment in ICT at the school.
“The truth is that during its time both under the control of the East Riding Council and as an Academy, Goole High has not achieved all it could. All we can hope is that now that the school is firmly within the Delta family that the school enjoys a period of stability and growth that will deliver for our young people.
“I was impressed by Julian's energy and positive vision for Goole Academy and I have assured him that I will do all I can to continue to support the school."
