New Village Signs

New Village Signs

Andrew recently visited Wroot Parish Council to view their new village sign. Andrew has been working with North Lincolnshire Council on improving the signs that you see on entering towns and villages locally, in place of the standard generic Council signs. The idea for this came when Andrew noticed that there were no signs welcoming residents and visitors to the Isle of Axholme, despite its ancient and very interesting history. From this idea, Andrew supported the Council in putting some funding together to offer Parish Councils the chance to create new signs for their own villages.

Commenting, Andrew said, "We've funded a number of these now and it was great to meet with Wroot Parish Council recently to view their very colourful new village sign. It looks great and it is so nice to travel around our area now and see more and more signs that offer a bit of the local identity or history of the place you are passing through.

"I've always said that improving our area and increasing a sense of pride in it is a mix of the big things and the small things. Multi-million pound investment is great but so is some of the smaller investment.

"One of the things I've really enjoyed supporting North Lincs Council on is improving the signs as you enter our towns and villages so that they have some local identity to them, rather than just the standard Council signs.

"We've funded a number of these now and it was great to meet with Wroot Parish Council recently to view their very colourful new village sign. It looks great and it is so nice to travel around our area now and see more and more signs that offer a bit of the local identity or history of the place you are passing through.

"As I say, the small things matter as much as the bigger improvements we need."
