As part of his campaign to support our local town centres, Andrew has been working to secure the installation of free wi-fi for use by shoppers visiting our town centres. Andrew worked with local wireless provider JibbaJabba, East Riding Council and local shops to introduce a free wi-fi zone in Goole shopping precinct in August 2013.
Andrew also worked closely with North Lincolnshire Conservative Councillors to introduce wi-fi in town centres across North Lincolnshire. Thanks to Andrew's lobbying, the Council recently agreed a budget to fund town centre wi-fi in Epworth and Brigg. This will also extend to fund wi-fi in Scunthorpe and neighbouring Barton.
Andrew says, "Town centres face unprecedented challenges and competition as people's shopping habits change. We need to respond to this by making them modern, attractive locations. Hopefully a free wi-fi offer will help to do just that."
Cllr Liz Redfern, Leader of North Lincs Council adds, "Yet again Andrew has come up with another innovative idea that we are delighted to support for the good of our local economy."
