NHS Action Day

NHS Action Day

Andrew Percy says, "I was delighted to be joined by Yorkshire and the humber MEP Timothy Kirkhope in Goole recently for the launch of my NHS petition. My petition call for an end to local health service cuts and labours mis-management of the health service. I recently held a street stall in Goole and was staggered by the number of people who told me of their concern at these cuts. Local cuts include -

The reduction of access to a GP overnight in the Goole, Snaith, Swinefleet and Airmyn area by a third.
The closure of the Rivers Ward at Goole Hospital
The closure of many NHS dentists in our area
The rationing of services from Scunthopre Hosptial
Alterations to the mid-wifery service from Goole Hospital to cover a huge geographical area including the Isle of Axholme without any extra staff.
Even worse, the Labour government is demanding millions of pounds from our local health trusts be repaid to the government. This will mean more cuts in the coming months!

Petition Launched against Labour's Local NHS Cuts

Parliamentary Spokesman Andrew Percy has launched a petition against Labour's local NHS cuts. Recent months have seen the announcement of ward closures at Goole Hospital, an unpopular re-organisation of mid-wifery services and the rationing of services from Scunthorpe Hospital.

Andrew says, "Why should people continue to pay more in tax but see less back in services. We recently lost the NHS Dentist in Snaith where the local Labour MP seems to think people should be happy to be treated by a mobile dentist! This really is a step backwards; with people paying more in tax we should be seeing an increase in local helath provision not a reduction.

In addition to this our Health Trusts are millions of pounds in debt with the Government demanding millions of pounds back from the trusts. Too much money in our hospitals is spent on administration and managers. I want money spent on front line staff and our doctors and nurses given a greater say over the running of our hospitals and clinics.
I urge as many residents as possible to join my campaign to save our local NHS."

If you would like to sign Andrew's NHS petition and help fight Labour's NHS cuts please e-mail us and we will add your name to the petition.

Fourth Worst Funding for East Riding Schools

Parliamentary Spokesman ANDREW PERCY says, "I am sure many local parents will be shocked to discover that last year the East Riding received the fourth worst education grant in the country from this Labour government.

East Riding pupils received £3,800 per pupil compared to £4,160 per pupil in Hull. Obviously there are differing demands in different authorities but an average pupil in the East Riding receives £340 less than even the national average!"
